After serving as a combat infantryman in the U.S. Army from 2003–2006, I returned to civilian life with few transferable skills. In 2011, I launched Plymouth Auto Transport, a brokerage helping customers ship their vehicles nationwide. Though hesitant at first to market myself as a veteran-owned business, a call from a Marine needing help with a CONUS PCS move opened my eyes to the financial burden military families face when shipping their personal vehicles.
That moment sparked the creation of Transport for Troops in 2016, co-founded with fellow Army veteran, Mike Feuerhelm. Our mission: to eliminate out-of-pocket costs for military families during PCS moves. In 2022, a key partnership with United Road allowed us to begin offering free POV shipments, and by 2025, they’ve proudly funded over 300 moves at no cost to service members.
We believe gratitude for service should go beyond words—and we’re committed to growing this impact until no military family is left to carry the cost alone. Join us in supporting those who serve.
After serving as an armored crewman in the U.S. Army from 1997–2000, I went back to helping my father in the car business moving his cars from dealer to dealer. Soon I was in a three-car hauler and starting my own company called Alpine Transport partnered with my father Ross Feuerhelm and sister Sarah Christen.
While in business, I met fellow veteran William Jacobs through auto transport. We teamed up to take care of an active duty military family, and after a couple years, our relationship led to forming Transport for Troops. Since 2018, we've dedicated our time, treasure, and talents to taking care of active duty military families.
After 15 years with Alpine Transport. It came time to close the business and I became an owner operator for Pilot Transport/United Road. This freed up more time for me to dedicate to TFT's mission. And, within six years, TFT has been able to form a strong partnership with United Road leading the way in providing 300 free shipments as of 2025, and a 50-POV per year commitment going forward.
